The K242 and K281 are self-propelled mortars of South Korean origin. Both vehicles are based on the KIFV chassis. The muzzle loaded mortar is mounted on a turntable at the rear and fires through large hatches in the roof. The crew and ammunition are carried within the vehicle. A baseplate is carried to use the mortar away from the vehicle. A 12.7mm M2HB heavy machine gun is fitted for self-defense.
The 107mm M30 rifled mortar is the main armament of the K242A1 mortar carrier.
The 81mm M29 mortar is the main armament of the K281A1 mortar carrier.
For self-defense a 12.7mm M2HB heavy machine gun is fitted.
