The AT-T was developed to tow heavy artillery pieces, such as the 203mm B-4.
The AT-T is one of the few vehicles suitable to tow the 180mm S-23 howitzer.
The AT-S was the medium counterpart to the AT-T and entered production around the same time.
The AT-L is the light counterpart to the AT-T. Both feature a cab derived from the ZiS-150 truck, which is much wider on the AT-T.
A lengthened version of the AT-T serves as the chassis for the P-40 surveillance radar. The NATO reporting name "Long Track" refers to the longer chassis.
